Financial Policy

Please bring all pertinent Insurance coverage information to your first visit, including your BC Services Card. Our practice now accepts the Canadian Dental Care Program.  You must have completed the application and approval for the CDCP prior to your visit.  For more information, please visit the Canadian Dental Care Plan website.

Important Information regarding your insurance coverage

Limitations may apply including yearly maximum benefits, frequency limitations for services, or a basic percentage maximum of coverage.  There are some procedures that will not be eligible for coverage or be fully reimbursable. Most plans will cover standard dental fees but not specialist fees, meaning there may be an uncovered portion even if your dental plan states 100% coverage. If there is an uncovered portion, it is the patient’s, or guardian’s, responsibility to pay the remainder on the day of treatment.

Your employer will provide you with details of your plan, usually through a booklet or the plan provider’s website. You can also contact your plan provider, or visit their website, to gain more information on your benefits.

For your convenience, we accept Debit, Cash, Visa and MasterCard. Payment is due at the time service is rendered unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Please remember you are fully responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of your insurance coverage.

In some cases we will send you a monthly statement. Most insurance companies will respond within four to six weeks. Please call our office if your statement does not reflect your insurance payment within that time frame. Any remaining balance after your insurance has paid is your responsibility. Your prompt remittance is appreciated.

If travelling outside of Victoria, BC, or Canada after your procedure, please be sure to carry adequate medical insurance as costs associated with post operative complications can be significant. Dr. Nagy will not be responsible for any fees associated with obtaining post operative care elsewhere.

To accomplish this we work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. Insurance Policy

As a courtesy to our patients, we do direct billing to most insurance companies. In order for us to bill your insurance, we will need all of your current dental plan information. We send a pre-determination electronically to inquire about your coverage but it is your responsibility to be in communication with your dental provider. Insurance companies will only speak with the policy holder directly for privacy reasons.

All dental plans are different and not all procedures are covered by every plan. Your plan is an agreement between you and your insurance company and not between our office and your insurance company.

Please note that pre-determinations are only an ESTIMATE. They can take up to 3 weeks to receive back. If you have not heard back from your insurance company in this time, please give them a call or check your online account. Bring your estimate with you to your appointment.

If you have secondary insurance we will help you fill out the forms required to receive reimbursement, however, we do not directly bill to the secondary plan. The only exception is if your secondary insurance is with the same insurance company as your primary insurer.

If your estimate is not back before your surgery, we require a deposit on the day of surgery. Deposits are $300, unless otherwise pre-arranged.

Any balance not covered by your first plan is required on the day of treatment. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, debit card, e-transfers, and bank drafts. We may offer payment plan options but this must be pre-arranged with us prior to your surgery date.
